21 Races for 2021

21 Races for 2021

One of my goals for this year is to run 21 races. I won’t be running them all at race pace but I will be running them all for a purpose.

My last official finish line was March 2020 right before the world shut down. Races are more than a chance for the running community to come together and chase goals. Many races support charities and other community organizations whose services remain in high demand this year. Local races provide fundraising opportunities for local charities. This is one way I can support the races I hope to run again in person while also supporting some great causes. I have set up fundraising pages for the important causes these races support. Not everyone is in a position to donate this year but I appreciate any support you can offer!

Race number 5: Sporting Life 10k. I have run this race every year since 2016. It is my classic Mothers Day experience. This race supports Camp Oochigeas which gives kids going through cancer the chance to just be kids. I have seen the work of this organization up-close and seen the smiles they bring to a child’s face. That’s why I have chosen to support Camp Ooch for my May fundraiser. From now until the end of the month if you donate through my link you will be entered to win a restaurant gift card. Win win!

Around the Bay Road Race sponsored by CN

Race number 4: Around the Bay 30k! I’ve only run this one once in real life so it was a lot of fun taking on the 30k distance 2 years later. Last time I ran this race I was on my way to running my first marathon and had not yet learned how to fuel properly. Fast forward two years and I ran this virtual race as a workout and took 13 minutes off my previous time. There were definitely a few less hills than the regular course but I’m looking forward to running this race in real life in 2022!

Race number 3: Under Armour Spring Run Off supporting the Princess Margaret Hospital. I’ve never done this race before, but this cause has taken on a special meaning for me this year. Running for a cause is kind of my thing and from now until the end of the year I will choose 1 cause a month to support based on the races I’m running. Please support if you can by donating here!
